Week 8 - Answer boards and social searching

"Slaming the boards" could be a new way of delivering information. I think that is a great way of promoting libraries in general and how can they help people find out information that they need.

Answer board have great potential in the library, would be good to have Answer board on library's web page so patron can offer their suggestions for collection, or post their ideas or comments.

Week 7 - Deli.icio.us

I've finally finished 7th week. It wasn't that easy, it took me longer to figure out how to do the things right.
Delicious is a good idea to be able to bookmark your favorites on your PC and be able to look them at any PC with internet access.
I can see the benefit of using Delicious in reference and I discussed with my colleagues how it would be beneficial to make bookmarks on topic of school assignment, because we have the same or very similar school assignment every year.
I really, liked how Sutherland Library used delicious.

Week 6 - Videos online

I embedded two videos on my blog from YouTube and Google video and it wasn't hard to do it.
I was using YouTube earlier very often but I didn't know that Google video exist. Now I know.

I enjoyed watching Mosman Library's authors talk and i can see the benefit of using YouTube and Google video in our Library. We can make online tour in our library so people can see how beautiful and welcoming this library is. We can promote collection, services, events, book reviews.
I think this would be good idea of promoting Book week and sharing ideas for story time, also simultanious storytime could be on video, not bad idea.

Week 5 - Wikis

Wiki is a good idea, a free and open encyclopedia of knowledge on any subject for people to comment on, but people need to have a good knowledge of subject to comment on it. If I can't find any information there is always something in Wiki but I always mention to customers that anyone can add the information and i can't guarantee the accuracy of information.

I think libraries could make good use of Book Lovers Wiki. In my library we run book club every month, and Central library as well. It would be good to set up Wiki so book club members can share what they are readind and make and add reviews.

I also think it would be a good thing to use Wiki in local history, so people could contribute to draw together historical information about buildings, events etc.

Week 4 - RSS

RSS is very good and usefull for keeping up with blogs and other information which is updated regularly, you don't need to check for updates, they are coming to you and you only need to check in one place.

I went to Bloglines created free account and add 6 feeds, one of them is Power House museum- photo of the day. Then I selected ABC news, Cooking, Healthy tips for your good lifestyle and few more in Google reader.

One of my responsibility is preschool storytime, and this technology can be very beneficial in promoting childrens activities and events.

In the libarray RSS can can be very good online method of promoting library services, new collection and library events.

Week 3 - Flickr

I choose 3 picture of Ingleburn Library and uploaded them from flickr to my blog. I find it easy and very interesting.
